Our Beliefs

What you read here is a summarization of what we believe as a church. We believe the Bible and teach it to be without error. Every belief and teaching flows from the Bible, God’s Word. For a more detailed doctrinal statement please reach out to our church office.

WE believe in the verbal inspiration of the sixty six (66) books of the Bible in its original writing (2 Tim. 3:16), that it is completely preserved and without error (Psalm 12:6-7) and is the sole authority in all matters of faith and practice (2 Tim. 3:16-17) ; that the Old Testament is preserved in the Masoretic Text and that the New Testament is preserved in the Textus Receptus.

WE believe that the King James Bible is the preserved Word of God for the English language, and that all other English versions are perverted translations of the original languages.

Of the True God

WE believe there is only one true God (John 17:3) existing in three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit (1 John 5:7-8). These three are co-equal from all eternity. Each one has a distinct personality (Luke 3:22), but all of one essence (Col. 2:9). This doctrine is known as the doctrine of the Trinity.

Of the Son of God

WE believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God (Mark 1:1), co-existent and co-equal with the Father (John 17:5) , and the Holy Spirit (Rom. 8:9), and that He came into the world, born of a virgin (Isa. 7:14; Matt. 1:23), shed His blood on Calvary (Luke 23:33; Matt. 26:28) as a vicarious substitute for all sinners (Rom. 5:8), and that He was buried and rose again bodily on the third day (1 Cor. 15:3-4), and ascended to the right hand of the Father (Acts 2:32-34).

Of the Holy Spirit

WE believe that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God (Eph. 4:30), co-existent and co-equal with the Father and the Son (1 John 5:7)

WE believe that the work of the Holy Spirit amongst unbelievers is to convict them of sin (John 16:8), draw them to the Savior (John 6:44), and regenerate their souls at salvation (Titus 3:5). To the believer, the work of the Holy Spirit is to guide into the truth (John 16:13) direct into the will of God (Acts 16:7-10), illuminate the Scriptures (Psalm 119:18), empower the witness (Acts 1:8; Acts 4:31) enable victory over the world, the flesh and the devil (Eph 3:16), and to equip for ministry (2 Cor. 3:3).

WE believe that it is the plan of God for every believer to walk after the Spirit, and not fulfill the lusts of the flesh (Rom. 8:1, 4; Gal. 5:16).

Of the Devil

We believe that being known as “the devil” (Matt. 4:1) was created holy and beautiful (Ezek. 28:12) and was the anointed cherub that covereth (Ezek. 28:14) named Lucifer (Isa. 14:12) Through pride and ambition (Isa. 14:13-14), iniquity was found in his heart (Ezek. 28:15) and he sought to set his throne above the throne of God (Isa. 14:13-14). He fell from that holy and sinless state (Isa. 14:12) and became the arch-rival of God and enemy and accuser of the brethren (Rev12:10). He corrupted at least one-third of the angels (Rev. 12:4, 9) and together they operate the kingdom of darkness (Col. 1:13) and Satan sees himself as the god of this world (2 Cor. 4:4). His evil rule is limited and will end in his permanent imprisonment in the lake of fire (Rev. 20:10).

Of the Fall of Man

WE believe that Adam was created without sin (Rom. 5:12), but fell by disobedience and thus the whole human race fell into sin (Rom. 5:19) and by nature all are sinners (Eph 2:3), spiritually dead (Eph. 2:1) and lost (Luke 19:10; 2 Cor. 4:3)

Of Salvation

We believe that salvation is a gift of God (Rom. 6:23; Eph 2:8), paid for by the shed blood (Mark 14:24; Heb. 9:22) of Jesus Christ on the cross of calvary, that it is wholly of grace and mercy (Eph. 2:5; Tit. 3:5-6), and is secured without any merit or good works of the sinner (Eph 2:9).

WE believe that salvation takes place when sinners, under the conviction of the Holy Spirit, acknowledge their sin and their inability to save themselves by any means (Acts 2:37), repent of their sins (Acts 3:19; 17:30; 20:21; 2 Cor. 7:10) put their faith (Eph 2:8) in the sacrificial offering of Jesus Christ on the cross (Heb 10:12-14), and call upon and receive the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior (John 1:12).

WE believe that those who have received Jesus Christ as their Savior are born-again (John 3:1-7; 3:16) and have become new creatures in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17) that hunger for God (Matt. 5:16)  love the Bible (1 John 5:3), desire righteousness (1 John 2:29) and long for fellowship with believers (1 John 3:4)

WE believe that salvation is offered to the entire world (John 3:16) and that nothing prevents the greatest sinner on earth from coming to Christ other than his inherent depravity and voluntary rejection of the gospel (John 5:40).

Of Eternal Security

WE believe in the eternal security of the believer, that a sinner having once been saved is always saved (John 5:24), and can never lose their salvation (John 10:27-29). Believers who willfully sin after salvation without repentance may come under the chastisement of the Lord (Heb. 12:4-8) but can never cease being saved, sons of God .

Of the Church

WE believe that the Church is a local assembly (Acts 8:1; 13:1; Rom 16:1 etc) of scripturally baptized believers (Acts 2:41; 1 Cor 12:13) and is the body of Christ (Col. 1:18, 24) . The church is God’s only institution on earth authorized to carry out the Great Commission and ministry of the saints (Matt. 28:16-20; Acts 13:1-3 etc).

The purpose of the church is to glorify Christ (Eph. 3:21), disciple and equip its members for ministry (Eph. 4:11-12), win lost souls to Christ (Acts 2:41), mentor and send out missionaries to establish churches (1 Tim. 3:15; Acts 13:1-3), and spread the word of God and the gospel to the entire world (Matt. 28:18-20; Acts 1:8). The Church is completely autonomous, with no other person, group, organization, denomination, or body having any authority, right of intervention or control in any form whatsoever, over or within the local Church (Col. 1:18), and that all ministry must be under the authority of the local church (Rom. 10:15; Acts 13:1-3).

A believer becomes a member of the church by baptism (Acts 2:41) or by transferring from another church of like faith and practice (Acts 9:26-27).

Of the Ordinances

WE believe that there are only two ordinances of the Church – believer’s baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Both ordinances are memorial and continually observed throughout the entire church age. The ordinances are church ordinances, meaning only the church has the authority to administer the ordinances.

Baptism. WE believe in the baptism of believers by immersion in water in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit (Matt. 28:18-20; Acts 8:38). Baptism identifies the believer with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ (Romans 6:3-4), is a public witness to their faith in the same (Matt. 3:5-8), and adds them to the church (Acts 2:41; 1 Cor. 12:13). Baptism does not save or impart any grace (Titus 3:5), but is symbolic and memorial (1 Pet. 3:21). A baptism is only legitimate if it is performed on a truly regenerate person that understands its symbolic meaning (Mark 16:17) and is performed by the authority of a scriptural New Testament Church (Matt 28:18-20).

The Lords Supper. The Lord’s Supper is to be observed by the members of the church (1 Cor. 10:15-17) on the day that corresponds to Passover (Matt. 26:17, 26-29; 1 Cor. 1:26) and is a picture of the broken body and shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ (Matt. 26:24-25). The Lords Supper does not save or impart any grace, but is symbolic and memorial (Matt. 26:24-25).

Of Things to Come

We believe that Christ will return again to establish his Kingdom on Earth (Acts 1:6-7). Prior to the commencement of this Kingdom, Christ will return in the clouds of the air and the dead in Christ and living saints will be caught up to meet him in the air (1 Thess. 4:14-17). Following this, the resurrected and raptured saints will appear at the Judgment Seat of Christ (2 Cor. 5:10) to be judged and rewarded (Rev. 11:18; Col 3:24) and then to attend the Marriage Feast of the Lamb (Rev. 19:7). During this time, the unparalleled wrath of the Lamb will be poured out on the earth (Rev 6:12-17). Finally, Christ will return with his saints to the Earth (Rev. 19:11-16) to rule and reign for one thousand years (Rev. 20:4). At the end of the millennium, Satan will be finally judged (Rev 20:7-10), the dead will appear before the Great White Throne and cast into the Lake of Fire (Rev. 20:11-15), God will create a new heaven and a new earth (Rev. 21:1), the new Jerusalem will descend from heaven (Rev. 21:2) and so shall we ever be with the Lord (1 Thess. 4:17)

Of the Family

WE believe that the family is the foundation and strength of society and the church. God has only ever instituted heterosexual marriages between a man and a woman (Eph 5:31; Deu. 17:17), in which the husband and father is the head of the home (Eph. 5:23), responsible for leading his family according to Biblical precepts (Gen. 18:19 Deu. 4:6-9), and that the wife is the important help-meet, counselor, advisor, and friend to the husband (Gen. 2:18; 1 Sam. 25:33),  and her most sacred calling is as wife and mother (Prov. 31:11-12, 27-28). We believe that the home is the God ordained institution for bringing children into the world (Gen. 1:22) raising them in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Eph. 6:4), and preparing them for life-long service to God (Psalm 127).

Of Human Sexuality

WE believe that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of marriage (Heb. 13:4). We believe that any form of homosexuality (Lev. 18:22; 20:13), lesbianism (Rom 1:26), bestiality (Lev. 18:23), incest (Deu. 27:20, 22-23), fornication (Eph. 5:3), adultery (Gal. 5:19), and pornography (Prov. 6:25) are sinful perversions of God’s gift of sex. We believe that God disapproves of and forbids an attempt to alter one’s gender by surgery or appearance. We believe that the only legitimate marriage is the joining of one man and one woman and was meant by God to be for life (Matt. 19:6).

We believe that civil government is of divine appointment (Gen 9:5-6), for the interests and good order of human society (Rom. 13:1-3; 1 Peter. 2:13-14), that magistrates, governors and kings are to be prayed for (1 Tim 2:1-2), conscientiously honored and obeyed (1 Peter 2:13-14); except only in things opposed to the will of our Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 5:29).

We believe that giving is enabled by God’s grace (2 Cor. 8:7) and from the beginning God has created his people to be generous givers The concept of tithing is practiced all through the Bible (Gen. 14:20; 28:20; Lev. 27:30) and that giving to God is an act of worship.(1 Chron. 16:29) We believe that it is Gods will that our giving to him should go beyond a simple tithe into generous offerings (2 Cor. 9:6-8). We believe that our income should be used to give to meet the needs of our family (1 Tim. 5:8), the local church (1 Cor. 9:11-14; Acts 4:32-35) global missions (Phil. 4:14-18), and the poor and needy (Eph. 4:28), and that God specifically promises to meet the needs of those who give cheerfully and faithfully (Phil. 4:19).
